Network & IoT
A major government agency in the US required a management and governance system to mange their cloud usage & costs. This included SaaS Governance and Management. As per govt. regulations an agency cannot spend more than their budget. This means they must have constant visibility into their cost and compliance.
The system should support cost management across the agency organization hierarchy. The agency had multiple departments structured hierarchically with budgets allocated to various projects. They wanted a rolled up view of all their costs across the agency hierarchy. This included real-time dashboard views as well as custom reports for chargeback and showback.
Role-based access control should be supported. Employee access to the management and governance system should be based on role-based permissions, including managers, auditors, and employees. The system should maintain audit logs of all user actions.
Genesis code-less catalog, budget/cost management, and cloud integrations provided a solution to address these requirements.
Code-less Catalog management created a centralized & approved source for agency cloud services. The catalog consisted of cloud offers with approved prices and descriptions. The fact that you can create offers very quickly and without the need for any coding helped the project get a running start.
Genesis pre-built integrations with various compliant cloud service providers provided full management functions. The system automatically calculated cost and rolled it up to each department level. These costs were further rolled up agency wide. A dashboard provided immediate visibility into budgeted vs. actual costs. Reports and audit logs allowed auditors to see that the agency was using the services in a fully compliant manner.
Genesis smart portals created fully branded and compliant user interfaces. The ability to support this without engaging any development resources (fully code-less) differentiated Genesis from the competition. Second, the ability to immediately flag any overages in real-time was really important for the agency.
Automotive dealers sell IoT enabled devices that can be optionally purchased with a car or truck. Car manufacturers work with the major phone companies to offer these accessories to their buyers. Not all accessories are offered in all markets and by all the dealers. It is necessary to create a dealer portal supporting only the IoT accessories that are available in a given market segment. Offers need to be hyper-segmented by geographic location.
Genesis code-less commerce portal, code-less catalog along with support for multi-tenancy enabled the IT Service partner to create and demonstrate a prototype within 1 day!
Code-less catalog management along with Geo-location based hyper segmentation capabilities created a centralized & approved catalog of connected car IoT accessories. The catalog consisted of car accessories with approved prices and descriptions. The fact that you can create offers very quickly and without the need for any coding meant that it only took a couple hrs. to enter all IoT accessories into the system. Images, videos and other descriptions of the accessories were pulled from manufacturer web sites in another coupe of hrs.
Next the IT Service partner used Genesis Smart Studio to design the layout, look, feel, navigation, and branding for two dealer portals. Genesis supports multi-tenancy, so each Auto-dealer was setup as a separate tenant in the system with their own approved catalog of IoT accessories. Each tenant also automatically get their own Portal that is fully customizable and branded as per dealer specifications. Both prototype portals were ready with 3-4 hours!
This use case demonstrates the power of the Genesis platform supporting an IoT commercialization use case. It also demonstrates how Genesis can change the economics of IT by shifting the power to business owners.
A major Carrier in North America wanted to create a cloud marketplace. This marketplace would have phone offers bundled with Cloud (SaaS) services from 3rd parties. The marketplace would drive more revenue and increase customer retention. It would also transform the company into a digital service provider.
A SaaS service broker was required to implement such a marketplace. The broker must on-board hundreds of SaaS vendors. Vendor on-boarding should be quick and inexpensive. The broker should also fully manage all SaaS vendors. This included managing users, accounts, licenses, subscriptions, etc.
The service broker must be a fully managed by the IT team and run in the Cloud. It must also integrate with the existing Billing and OSS systems.
Genesis was selected as the Broker due to its ability to on-board SaaS vendors 3-5 times faster than the competition. We demonstrated deep integration with the most complex SaaS vendor (Microsoft Azure – Cloud CSP) within 10 days! Integrations with most other SaaS vendors were completed in less than a week (production ready). Some integration were ready for production launch in 2 days. Genesis Domain-Driven Design (DDD), compiler plugins, on-boarding API, and on-boarding Bridge offered multiple integration options. This guaranteed that the simplest to the most complex SaaS vendor was easily supported.
Genesis was also integrated to the Carrier IT Application stack. Genesis received order requests via it’s REST API, performed order orchestration and interfaced with one or more SaaS vendors. Vendor actions included create, modify, delete, cancel, users, licenses, discovery, and add-ons. The system also supported email notifications, custom reports, and notifications to external systems. Genesis tracked usage statistics broken down by customer account numbers, which helped identify current utilization as well as recommend other related services that could benefit the customer.
This use case demonstrates the power of the Genesis platform supporting a Cloud marketplace. It also demonstrates the ability to rapidly on-board all types of SaaS vendors. Support for reports and dashboards enabled product managers to drive greater adoption of the marketplace. The use case also demonstrates the ease of integrating Genesis with Carrier IT stack without creating any dependencies. The solution is hosted in the AWS cloud.
A major Carrier in Asia wanted to create a B2B digital ecosystem selling digital services to the hospitality industry. Digital services included WIFI vouchers, on-demand TV, digital payments, and advertising. Ecosystem partners included advertising companies, payment gateway providers, and WIFI Modem vendors. Customers included several major hotel chains in the country.
The ecosystem would need to support a digital marketplace. Some marketplace products could be fulfilled without human intervention. Some others needed manual steps for Product Managers and Channel managers to approve requests, assess if goods need to be shipped, and manage settlement with the 3rd parties. SMB customers would experience a seamless customer journey for procurement and receive notifications and alerts as their requests were fulfilled. The existing billing system would be updated to include the new digital products on the same bill.
A digital ecosystem management system would manage all aspects of the digital marketplace, supporting on-boarding of ecosystem partners as well as provide digital storefront, order management, workflow management, product catalog, content management, billing, reconciliation, role-based access control supporting product managers, channel managers, and support personnel.
Genesis code-less commerce portal, code-less catalog along with support for flexible workflows enabled the IT Service partner to create and demonstrate a prototype within a week!
Code-less catalog management along with Geo-location based hyper segmentation capabilities created a centralized & approved catalog of hospitality products. The catalog consisted of products with approved prices and descriptions. The fact that you can create offers very quickly and without the need for any coding meant that it only took a few hours to enter all the product information. Images, videos and other descriptions were pulled from manufacturer web sites.
Genesis commerce portal was branded as per customer guidelines using the code-less design studio. Role based access control was implemented on the administration portal allowing product and channel managers to track the lifecycle of their products. Product managers also used the task manger to approve customer requests (when applicable). The system created email notifications as orders progressed through the fulfillment lifecycle.
This use case demonstrates the power of the Genesis platform to support a digital marketplace with rapid on-boarding of vendors and supporting reports and dashboards that enable greater adoption of the B2B marketplace. It also demonstrates the flexibility of the system to support different types of workflows, users, roles and permissions.
